Countries visited: 32

Hawaii (March 2008)
Ryan and Becky Koop invited us to go on a vacation with them this winter. We decided on Hawaii and specifically the island of Kauai. We spent a week on Kauai and a couple days on either side in Oahu.
India (May 2007)
With a month off work, we headed to India with a couple days stop-over in London. We travelled from Delhi to Agra to Rajisthan. After a week in Rajisthan, we headed south towards Mumbai and Goa. The last week we spent in the North - Dharamsala and Dehra Dun (Mussoorie).
Suriname (Fall 2005)
In May 2005 we were both offered jobs in the fall with Canadian Crossroads International for a term in Suriname. Steve was working wwith technologyand computer harrdware training. Amie worked with starting a local newspaper for some HIV / AIDS organizations and other journalisty type stuff. We took a week trip around Suriname and Guyana before starting our work and had a nice day trip in Trinidad.
Honeymoon (Spring 2005)
Amie let Steve choose the honeymoon and wasn't to tell her anything until right before getting on the plane. This was successful and we took off to the Cook Islands for 10 days. We explored, snorkeled, sunbathed and circled the island and were ready for new adventures by the end. So we hopped over to Auckland, New Zealand and rented a camper van. We drove from Auckland to the north tip of the North Island and then all the way down across the ferry to the South Island down to Queenstown. It got a little chilly as it was fall there so we moved northward again towards Christchurch. What a great holiday! Kiwi's are crazy! NZ is definitely the extreme sport capital of the world and has some of the best scenery I have ever seen.
South America (Summer 2004)
Ryan Koop and I had been joking about south america for about a year, knowing that we would not know where we would be at that time. As the summer of 2004 got closer, things started to fall in place and we started to make preparations for the trip. A couple weddings altered plans a little but the plans continued. Early in 2004 I got a call from Kevin Louie and he was wondering what I was doing for the summer. I told him about South America and he said that sounded like a good idea. The rest is history. Three months of intense travelling allowed for extensive covering of the continent. 9 Countries visited and not a whole lot of time to waste in between. We saw amazing things and met wonderful people. This trip was definitely life changing. Rich history and culture kept us begging for more. The amazing sights and stories from this trip will definitely be retold over and over again!
US Roadtrip (Summer 2003)
At the end of the summer I had 2 weeks off so it was high time for a road trip. Robbie and I jumped in the car and hiked, conquered and explored 10 states without stopping for much sleep.
Saipan Workterm (Winter 2003)
For my third workterm I found a great organization located in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (in Micronesia). FEBC Saipan is a missionary shortwave radio station. So after a nice accidental layover in Korea, I worked with the engineers in Saipan (5 by 15 mile island) for 4 months and enjoyed 30+ weather all winter! I took one trip to Tinian for a couple days near the end of my trip and met up with Chrisite in China on the way back for a couple weeks.
Asia Adventure (2002)
My goal for my second work term was to get as far away as possible. The only real oportunity was teaching in China. This wasn't really beneficial to my degree but that didn't matter a great deal at the time. Working for 5 months in Guangzhou was great and lots of conquering was done. We took several trips including Hong Kong, Macau, Yongshuo, Yunnan, Thailand, and all over Guangdong. The real adventure started after 5 months of work when Kevin and I went travelling for 3 months. We travelled all over Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, and China. After that, backpacking changed my life and yearning for adventure swam through my veins.
Ottawa Workterm (2001)
Over the course of getting my Electronic Engineering degree I have had a ton of oportunities to travel. The first time I actually got out of the house for a while was for 4 months when I worked in Ottawa, Canada. The independence was fantastic and weekends were used for roadtrips and snowboarding. After that it was a goal to use work terms as travelling oportunities.
Earlier Years (last millenium)
Travelling has really been a big part of my upbrining. Until I started grade 2 the family was all over the place. In 1985 my parents left for France to learn french. Then it was off to Africa for a couple years of work in Burkina Faso. Due to medical issues we were forced to leave and returned to Germany and then back to Canada. After living in Eastern Canada for several months, we eventually ended up in Regina, Saskatchewan. Over the rest of the eighties and nineties we took many roadtrips all over Canada and the US. We went to Hawaii a couple of times in the mid-nineties and to California and Mexico for a little holiday. My parents have been all over the place over the years. Added together, they have been to Canada, U.S., Mexico, Greece, Malta, Crete, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Niger, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Egypt, Cuba, Romania, Hungary, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Israel, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, Kasakstan, Morroco, China, France, Spain, Germany, England, Holland, Gibraltar, Switzerland, and Belgium. I guess it is obvious where the travel bug comes from.
